The Concordia Lions Club held its 61st Annual Football Banquet recognizing the 2019 Concordia Panthers on Thursday, November 21st at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Parish Hall.

The guest speaker for this year’s banquet was former Concordia High School Guidance Counselor Larry Laas.  Laas, recently retired, had been in public education for more than 40 years. This past spring, Laas was named a Kansas Counseling Association Hall of Fame recipient. Laas spoke Thursday about what he thinks makes Concordia a great team — its tradition, educational opportunities, amazing community support and mentors.

The Concordia High School Football team ended their first year underneath Head Coach Jordan Echer at 5-5 overall, the most wins for the program since 2015.  The season was highlighted by the team winning their first playoff game since 2014 in a 43-18 road win over the Hugoton Eagles in their opening round game of the 2019 Kansas State High School Activities Association Class 3A State Football Playoffs.
