The junior high volleyball continued their winning ways in front of a home crowd Monday, Sept. 14 against the Wamego Red Raiders.
The 8th grade A team, now 6-1 on the season, won its first game, 25-15, 25-9. Taylor McDaniel led the team with nine straight serving points. KcAnna Keiswetter had six. It was all Lady Panthers in the second game of the night as they came away with the 25-12, 25-12 victory. McDaniel led again with nine straight serving points in the second set and eight in the first set.
“I’m excited to see the growth in this team already,” said head coach Laura Krier. “The girls played well. We had a couple of mistakes, but it is nothing that can’t be fixed.”
The 8th grade B team (3-0) got the win in three sets, 19-25, 25-4, 15-9. Tierney Breault led the team with nine straight serving points. Jena Hanson had eight, and Ruby Genereux had seven.
The 7th grade A team (7-0) also picked up two wins. They won the first game, 25-14, 25-3, and the second game, 25-11, 25-17.
“I’m very proud of the way they are playing right now,” head coach Cyndi Atwell said. “We need to work on attacking the ball, but, overall, we hustle and have great teamwork.”
The 7th grade B team (3-0) won its game in three sets, 25-21, 14-25, 15-7.
The Lady Panthers will host Abilene on Thursday, Sept. 17 at Concordia Elementary School. Game time is set for 4:45 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 22, the 7A team heads to the Holton tournament, and the 7B team will play in a tournament in Wamego.
